Evelyn

_DSC0193 2I was so excited to test Evelyn. It just so happens to be the name of my dear and beloved great grandmother. Alexis Wright of Violette Field Threads captured the elegance of the name Evelyn in this “cold shoulder” dress filled with so much personality and grace. It has the option of bodice pintucks, bodice ruffles (front and back), and can be made as a top or dress. I made my very first floral crown to accompany the dress and I think it compliments the beautiful reds in the skirt and ruffle fabric so well.

_DSC0220The bodice ruffles are actually two (small and large) layered on top of each other and attach to the bodice. It creates a seemingly perfect flow from the front bodice ruffles, across the sleeves, down to the back bodice ruffles. A perfect illusion!

_DSC0202I used Kona cotton for the bodice (from Hobby Lobby) and the ruffle and skirt fabric is lawn ordered from Hawthorne Threads (Wildflowers in Blush designed by Heather Ross).

_DSC0263The vintage length of this pattern is just the “cherry on top.” You can always lengthen the dress, if desired. Purchase the pattern here, and as always, happy sewing.
